An introductory study of some Mursal (مرسِل) Narrators in Tafseer Ibn-i-abi Hathim

Abstract

Imam Ibn-i-abi Hathim contributed a lot to Islamic libraries. He contributed his efforts toward many kinds of Islamic sciences, but his books which were compiled in the interpretation of the Holy Quran and criticism of the narrators of Ahadith have got special status amongst all. His Tafseer which is known as a primary source for the Quranic sciences, wherein he focused to note a Hadith or an Asar attached with a chain of narrators i.e. تفسیر بالماثور. This book contains on several kinds of Ahadith including trustworthy and week، which is, furthermore, classified with many kinds of Za’eef Hadith. One of them is Mursal (مُرسَل) which is introduced by the scholars as it is a kind of hadith wherein a Tabi’ee narrates from the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) directly and he doesn’t mention name of the companion of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) whose from he has taken the very Hadith he narrates. It is a collection of the said kind of Hadith, chosen from the well-known Tafseer of Imam Ibn-i-abi Hathim. It is described it in a research manner, to make the upcoming research scholars and other readers know about such a specific kind of Hadith. We also have mentioned short biography of each narrator (راوی), along with an attachment of a sample of his narrations (روایت) at the end.
