Abstract

Hadith as a branch of knowledge has commenced in the sacred era of the Holy Prophetﷺ. After the departure of the Holy Prophetﷺ the best persons of the Muslim Ummah rendered their services for the service of Hadith. As a result, the knowledge of Hadith grew and it progressed in the diverse fields of the knowledge. The diversity of the knowledge encompassing the diverse fields of knowledge, and it is termed as usool -ul- Hadith (Principles of Hadith).The knowledge of hadith has been adorned with varieties of style, modernity, innovation and diversity of topic. The scholars of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have written many worth mentioning books in the footprints of the scholars of the subcontinent.

The writer has knowledge of twenty six books of principles of hadith, some of them are published while some other are unpublished, written by the scholars of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This study will introduce the scholars of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, their books and manuscripts, and their speeches delivered in their localities.  The purpose of this study is to gather and compile the information about the services rendered by the scholars of this area. This study will highlight the work done by the scholars of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the field of principles of hadith. Moreover, this study will suggest different fields of principles of hadith for the researchers to explore and extend the existing knowledge of hadith.
