Obstacles to the Formation of the Welfare State, the Negative Effects of Monopoly (sharia and modern review
Abstract
Capitalism that prevails in most countries of the world is known by the hallmark of free trade. This system justifies and supports every means of securing maximum wealth. Hoarding is a method by which grain is stored to create false scarcity, and when the demand of rises; it is sold at the price of the seller's choice. This results in the accumulation of wealth in a few hands and what follows is that rich become richer and the poor poorer, and ultimately the society splits up into a very poor and very rich class. However, Islam forbids all such methods and means that lead to obstructing distribution of wealth, deteriorating economic condition of people, and causing the annihilation of the economy. On the contrary, the Islamic system supports the distribution of wealth and it desires that an Islamic state must block all unfair means of profit۔making. It directs practicing Islamic laws in the economy as well. In the capacity of a researcher, the selection of this topic aims at reviewing the effects of the aforesaid capitalistic approach on the economy, analyzing it in the light of Islamic law (hadith and jurisprudence) so that efforts could be made for the establishment of the Islamic economic system in the country.
